I don't like it. The hype didn't live up to the expectation I had before watching it. The cartoon is very beautifully made, the story is somewhat different. But, what a boring Li Bai! The greatest poet had only one face, from beginning to the end, there is no growth, there is no reason why he can write so magically. The hero was the other person, the pataglist who had grew dramatically, who seemingly benefitted most from meeting Li Bai. I don't see why Li Bai thought Gao was one of his best friends.
I don't like boring story lines. And virtualizing the poems into grand cartoons doesn't carry a story.
I am disappointed.
That's why I like '封神‘, which has the courage to tell the same old story from a totally new angle. I never liked story of 封神, in my view, that story is fully of worst part of Chinese culture (superstition, never respect female, and other). But, the take of this movie was a rewrite of the story into a western style drama or play. The core of the story is about growth and awaking, finding self. That is much much better than telling a crowd-pleasing old tale.
